On the western side of the national park, it’s a little harder to get to and makes a perfect basecamp for hardier and more intrepid campers and glampers. The campsite is situated opposite the Inn on the right as you enter our car park. Plus thousands of other campsites and caravan parks in UK and Europe. Flat pitches and clean facilities on site.
The Old Post Office Campsite provides pitches suitable for camping, motorhomes and touring caravans. There are hardstanding pitches (fully serviced) available for either caravans or motorhomes. Grass pitches are mainly level and are available for tents.
Ten grass pitches are served with electric hook up. Home to Wastwater (England’s deepest Lake) and Scafell Pike (England’s highest mountain), the valley is a wonderful place to stay during a visit to the Lakes. Remote and utterly peaceful. Try our new heated camping pods.
Beautiful location at foot of Scafell Pike and near the edge of Wast Water. Narrow access roads at times single track with hump back bridge on route in. The scenery here is breathtaking the countryside is huge the rivers run clear and you would struggle to find a more naturally beautiful part of England.
Rooms include a patio with a sea view. All rooms are fitted with a private bathroom with a shower and free toiletries. At the hotel, the rooms come with a desk.
Water sports, climbing and abseiling are all on your doorstop. The hostel also provides geography and biology educational packages. It is an ideal location to start the climb of Scafell Pike. Breathtaking scenery, crystal clear rivers, wild swimming, swallows nesting.
Utterly isolated campsite in the Lake District. There’s a shop on site, which is essential unless you want to drive to Ambleside. With two pubs nearby, as well as the National Trust pub – The Sticklebarn, this has to be one of the best places to camp in the Lake District.
It’s also a place of considerable natural beauty, being surrounded by high mountains – views are enhanced even further from the shores of Wastwater, the Lake District’s deepest lake. A great area for camping and campsites and for exploring this wonderful part of Cumbria.
