Like its forerunner namesakes, the Griffith 2and Griffith 4, the modern Griffith was a lightweight (0kg (3lb)) fiberglass -bodie 2-door, 2-seat sports car with a Vengine. It was the successor to the TVR Griffith 2featuring improved cooling.


Jack Griffith from the US had the idea of fitting a V. Although this was a 4Manx tail shape car it was called a TVR Griffith 200. The UK cars were given a GB chassis number and were sold in Europe, Canada, Australia and of course the UK.

With direct lineage to the Griffith, the Chimaera has proven to be the most prolific of all TVR models to date. He took the mild mannered and lightweight four-cylinder TVR Grantura, fitted it with a potent 2cubic inch V-Ford high performance engine and named this creation, appropriately, the Griffith.


The original TVR Griffith was born. Extremely rare example of one of the fastest cars from the sixties. We are very lucky to have this rare and famous sportscar from the sixties in our showroom. Most of these cars are now turned into racing cars, as these Griffiths are quite succesfull in historic racing.


Public reaction was encouraging with over 3orders being placed for the new car. The Griffith Car Corporation was formed to market the Griffith. It was only later that TVR made its own factory version of the car, adopting the Griffith tag as a model name. By then, the American organisation had launched its uprated Griffith 4model.


Assigned chassis number 00 BFR 400B was the factory prototype for the new shaped 4model and the company demonstrator that was taken to the Motor Show. Ash Green with Doeskin half hide interior, sage carpets piped in doeskin, black hood.


Stunning pre-cat Griffith that has been subject to a total restoration and has covered less than 5miles since completion.

Largely original, this Griffith (think small, fiberglass-bodied TVR with Ford 2Vadded) was used for drag racing from new according to the seller, and now only has 4miles (although the majority may have been a quarter mile at a time!) It’s for sale here on eBay where bidding has not yet met the reserve yet but has just passed $6000! It featured a triple-carb 2cid Ford V-mated to a Borg Warner 4-speed manual and a new Salisbury differential.


As with its predecessor, the Griffith 4was clothed with the Blackpool-built fiberglass coupe bodywork from the TVR Grantura Mk. This beautiful TVR Griffith LTR is sure to be one of the nicest examples for sale today.
