Trailer driving lessons

Due to diversity of loads carried we can only cover the theory of loading a trailer. Attention will be paid to awareness, planning, vehicle management, control and use of speed. Tow a trailer over 750kg MAM as long as the combined MAM of the trailer and towing vehicle is no more than 5kg.

Learn To Attach A Basic Trailer. Whether you want to tow a trailer, horsebox or caravan, you can come to us for lessons to suit! A two day training course for beginners, delegates will learn the start to finish of servicing a trailer. Perfect for someone with little or no previous experience, who is keen to enter the industry.

For a private lesson for one person, it is $49 which includes hours on each of the days. There is also an option for two people to attend private lessons, which is only $695.

If you are looking for just a refresher on how to drive with a travel trailer or RV, then there is actually a Refresher Course for $250. Lanarkshire and Glasgow areas.

As well as normal driving lessons, we specialise in providing under-age driving and driving instructor training courses. You normally take your car and trailer driving test when you’ve got a full car driving licence. You do not need to pass another theory test. You have the choice of using your car for the towing training course, or if you prefer we have manual vehicles you can use. You can take lessons with one of our instructors. You will be taught in a 4Xwith box trailer. With no theory test require you could be sitting your practical examination in no time. Train with one of our friendly, experienced and fully licensed Instructors.

Training runs from our Stowmarket site and you are required to bring BOTH parts of your driving licence to all training sessions. Brush up your skills, or learn them from scratch, with our comprehensive tractor driving course.

Course participants begin by learning and qualifying on basic backing skills without trailers until a level of competency is reached.

Trailers are then introduced and skill development continues. We can teach you to tow and reverse your trailer safely within a weekend. Towing a trailer can be daunting, even for the most experienced driver. Standard driving lessons for provisional license holders are also available.

Metcalfe’s Driver Training provides a range of driving courses to suit everybody from beginners to experienced drivers looking to enhance their driving qualifications. We can offers courses in manual driving lessons, car and trailer courses and large goods vehicle training courses that are tailor made to your ability and experience.

We can also provide trailer training with trailer test at other locations in Scotland. We are able to offer caravan towing lessons, caravan handling and caravan manoeuvring lessons for those who have little or no towing experience and want to gain some confidence in handling and manoeuvring with their own vehicle and caravan.
