Speed awareness course checker

How much does a speed awareness course cost?

This will allow you to find details to contact the course provider where you need to change the date or time of your course where necessary or make further enquiries. For example, in a mph limit – you could attend a course up to 42mph inclusive. Disqualification: seven to days.


If you find that the cost of your car insurance has gone up after declaring that you’ve been on a speed awareness course, it might be a good time to shop around for a better deal. If you decide to switch, you should tell your new insurer about the speed awareness course before you commit to buying the policy. The amount by which you can break the speed limit and still be eligible to take a speed awareness course is between 10% of the speed limit plus 2mph, to 10% of the limit plus 9mph.


You’ll have to pay a £1fine and have points added to your licence, unless you’re given the option to attend a speed awareness course.

If you pay the fine, how you pay depends on where. Speed awareness courses aim to educate drivers about their speeding, and act as an incentive to stop them doing it again. They’re offered by some regional police forces as an alternative to adding three penalty points to your licence and a £1fine. For all motorists, you must attend and successfully complete the course within four months of the date of your offence.
