Caravan tyre pressure

What is the tyre pressure for a twin caravan? Are caravan tyres inflated? How much inflation pressure does a caravan tyre have? As the maximum inflation PSI pressure of the tyre in our example is PSI you do need to check the caravan tyres are not over-inflated in the summer months.

Caravan Tyre Pressures and Motor Movers First and foremost it’s important to check and inflate your caravan tyres to the correct pressure for safety reasons. Max Pressure for tyre divided by load rating) 0.

PSI (inflation factor times one-quarter of the weight of the caravan ) So the correct tyre pressure is PSI. Top Tip: As a rule of thumb, the inflation pressure of a hot tyre is usually about PSI higher than when cold. Therefore, your caravan tyre pressures will be 3. One word of caution, however, is never exceed the load and pressure requirements that are moulded into the wall of the tyre as indicated in the top diagram.

Your tyres should be rated for at least 90% of the MTPLM (Maximum Technically Permissible Laden Mass) of your caravan or trailer. When you buy a caravan, you may be shocked at the amount of tyre pressure needed. Most cars are around 26psi, and if you go to the garage to add air to your tyres, seems to be the default.

However, caravan tyres require a much higher pressure, some as high as psi. Inflate or deflate the tyres to match the cold tyre pressure recommended on the compliance plate.

TPMS is an important safety feature to monitor the tyre pressure of your leisure vehicle wheels and adjust accordingly. Tyre -Pal is the industry leading manufacturer with a variety of gauges, systems and display units to suit your needs. Whatever tyres are fitted to the towing car, caravan, trailer tent or motorhome, it is essential to the safety and… Advice and Information Keeping tyres correctly inflated ensures an even wear rate leading to longer tyre life.

Inflation pressure is an important issue – the safety and durability of your caravan tyres depend on them being inflated correctly. Incorrect inflation pressure can adversely affect the handling of the caravan and can also increase fuel consumption.

For any given tyre, there will be an optimum inflation pressure based on the load it is carrying. Looking For Caravan Tyre Pressure ? If the increase is less than psi then your tyre pressure is too high… and if it’s by more than psi then you started too low. Find Caravan Tyre Pressure now! Appropriate inflation pressures for the actual load imposed on caravan and trailer tent tyres can be found by clicking Load and inflation tables.

Obviously the first thing to be sure of is that the tyres are capable of carrying the total weight of your caravan. I wonder how many with caravans change their tyre pressures between towing and not towing?

I ask because the recommended tyre pressures for my VW Passat varies between 33psi all round for two people to front and rear when fully laden with people and luggage, which is quite a difference. A TyrePal tyre pressure monitoring system keeps you in touch with your tyres and can be set up for just the caravan or for all the wheels on the towed rig.

Maintaining the correct inflation pressure in your caravan wheels will maximise the lifespan of the tyres, reduce shock to the caravan and improve towing stability. Generally, over-inflated tyres have a higher chance of puncturing, transfer more vibration and shock to the caravan and the bouncing effect can cause instability and sway while towing. Under-Inflated tyres may also result in instability and the additional load on the sidewalls of the tyres can cause them to de-laminated or bulge.

The pressure embossed on the tire is the max that should be applied to the tire and must never be exceeded.

Use the pressures as stated in your handbook. Car tyre pressure is measured by calculating the amount of air that has been pumped into the inner lining of your tyre in pounds per square inch (PSI) or BAR pressure. The manufacturer of your vehicle will specify the suitable pressure for your tyres, and it is your responsibility as the driver to make sure that the pressure is checked and corrected on a regular basis. Eventually, the tyre sidewalls start to crack or bubble. To help prevent this, regularly move the caravan back and forth – every month or so – to release the pressure on the sidewall. UV rays from the sun can cause the rubber in your tyres to degrade, resulting in cracks and premature ageing.

The Caravan We need to know what the MTPLM is of your caravan. This is typically stamped into a plate somewhere near the door. Some newer caravans also include the tyre pressures, however many still do not have the tyre pressures include this is where this calculator can help.

Also we need to know how many axels you have on the caravan. Could anybody please advise me of the correct tyre pressures. The Abbey Caravans owners handbook doesnt list it anywhere. There is an Abbey Addendum inside but this only lists pressures for the 31 3and 319.

We recently sold our series provence, lovely caravan. The tyre pressures on ours were 42lbs psi. I checked them to make sure they were correct before the man collected it. Kelly at Bailey is very helpful as are all the people there.
