Sutton bank gliding club

Today, we are dedicated to providing high-quality training and facilities, affirming our position as the best soaring club in the North of England. We have been flying.

Follow us on Instagram to see our latest images. All of our instructors are trained to the standards set by. Visiting pilots may fly our Club gliders subject having the.

The airfield site is miles (km) east of Thirsk along the A1road and just south of the National Park visitors centre at Sutton Bank. How high is Sutton Bank? What to expect at Sutton Bank?

Covered in mud cold and wet we thought better of the Abbey café with its mousey Thompson furniture and saw a sign for the glider club café. Top notch they welcomed us with a smile, kept an eye on the bikes and did nt mind the puddles forming on the floor. Great value, good honest food and some good conversation with the regular and frustrated glider pilots.

If your a cyclist put it on. Parking was easy and a friendly member of staff kindly guided my wife and me to the front of the main building.

A covering of stratus cloud and no wind had clearly limited the programme of gliding. As luck would have it, the sun broke through and we were able to see half a dozen take offs and landings before it was time.

Make a Booking Today! Have you got the bottle for it? Is it real or pretend in there? Once in a lifetime stuff!

We’re open seven days a week for flying (weather permitting) and offer professional instruction in a fleet of nine gliders. The Cafe is a bit basic but acceptable. The White Horse of Kilburn is much better seen from a distance, the effect is lost be being so close. Sutton Bank is a beautiful location with fantastic views and good walking.

Full expert instruction is also available. On the groun I was greeted by our weekend office manager who went on to brighten my day by telling me that the chap who I was crewing for (and who was crewing for me) had managed to land out some miles away.

Seeing the iconic Kilburn White Horse from above is a real highlight. Join the conversation. Gliding in Yorkshire is something special.

Share your pictures and comments with us – we’d love to hear from you. With no prospect of flying - one our club instructors is taking out his frustrations on the small population of resident snowmen.

Treat yourself or a relative to a flight experience for Christmas, help us to get our members flying again so that no more snowmen have to suffer needlessly. Find the perfect aircraft sutton bank gliding club stock photo. No need to register, buy now!

Cadets, three Tutors, two T. Clearly one of, if not the largest gliding club fleets in the UK at that time. Staff in the office very friendly and welcoming, paperwork sorted within minutes, had a coffee in the club house and waited my turn.

The annual Slingsby Week, celebrating Fred Slingsby’s contribution to gliding. In fact the shape of the land is so suitable for gliding that the Club altitude record stands at over 30feet.

It had a winch launcher on the edge of Sutton Bank. I think I lost lbs on that flight, all.
